Digital Services and Transformation Office

The Digital Services and Transformation Office is responsible for accelerating and coordinating transformation across the department, as part of the strategic plan to modernize Transport Canada. It does this by engaging partners across the department and providing advice and support in terms of:

  • regulatory modernization
  • transition to innovative and digital-first approaches to services delivery
  • introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) to support advanced analytics, decision-making and departmental processes
  • provision of modern digital tools across the department

Julie Leese
Chief Digital Officer

Bio

Julie Leese is Transport Canada's first Chief Digital Officer in January 2019 and is leading the department's transformation journey, including our move to digital.

Julie joined Transport Canada in 2017 as the Chief Information Officer (CIO), successfully modernizing the department's Information Management and Information Technology program to better enable how we deliver our programs and services.

With over 33 years of experience in the public service, Julie began her career at the Department of National Defence. She has also worked at Public Works, Agriculture Canada, the Treasury Board Secretariat and Correctional Services Canada.

Julie is very active in the Government of Canada's CIO community. She established a Government of Canada Women's CIO Forum, which meets regularly and organizes Women in Technology events.
