Transport Canada (TC) is seeking feedback to remove two airport zoning regulations that no longer apply to the lands for which they were originally intended. These regulations are considered redundant because the airports have been closed.
Airport zoning regulations are established under the Aeronautics Act to ensure that lands developed near airports do not put safe aircraft and airport operations at risk. When regulations no longer apply, Transport Canada will remove them to make clear they are no longer in force.
The proposed removal of the zoning regulations will eliminate restrictions imposed on lands near:
- Cartierville Airport (Quebec), and
- Toronto/Buttonville Airport (Ontario)
