Transport Canada provides a range of programs and services in the Quebec Region through its offices in Montreal and through its network of Transport Canada Centres throughout the region.

Transport Canada is the Department responsible for developing transportation policies and programs that ensure a safe and secure, efficient and environmentally-responsible transportation system for Canadians.

Our Role

Transport Canada works hard to keep Canada's transportation system among the safest in the world. We develop and enforce safety and security regulations, and promote ways to identify, prevent or reduce risks and threats to Canadians. Our programs help make Canada's economy strong by creating jobs and attracting business, trade and tourism. We are also working hard to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the air, land and water pollution directly linked to road, rail, air and marine transportation.

To this end, we are accelerating the Clean Air Agenda through new transportation emission regulations. We are also advancing trade and competitiveness through the transportation system and strengthening transportation safety and security. In the air transportation sector, for example, Transport Canada is enhancing the screening of passengers and non-passengers and implementing an air cargo security-screening program.

Transport Canada’s 5,300 employees work across the country to ensure that Canadians have access to the safest and most secure transportation network, in which the public can have continued confidence.

Includes railway safety and transportation of dangerous goods

Transportation of Dangerous Goods Services

Includes the awareness, disseminating information and advice to the public and industry, handling inspection and investigation, offering for transport and transportation of dangerous goods, review of of emergency plans and procedures and regulatory requirements by CANUTEC, bilingual service available 24 hours day.

Motor Vehicle Safety Services

Please note that Motor Vehicle Safety does not have a presence in regional Transport Canada Centres. Their services are available through the following toll free numbers and e-mail.

Programs (Airports, Harbours and Ports, and Environmental Services)

Includes management of funded programs, management of Airport Capital Assistance Program, port and airport leases, Port and Airpot Divestiture Funding, management of public port facilities, environmental assessments and remediation, Aboriginal consultations, etc.
