Lawrence Hanson
Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Group
Bio
Lawrence Hanson became the Assistant Deputy Minister of Policy at Transport Canada in June 2017.
Before this, Lawrence served as Assistant Deputy Minister in two roles at Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED): first for the Spectrum, Information Technologies and Telecommunications sector, and later for Science and Innovation.
At Environment Canada, Lawrence was Director General of Strategic Policy. After joining the public service in 1996, he also worked in the Privy Council Office and at the former Human Resources Development Canada.
Lawrence holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Studies from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of British Columbia.
