With the assistance of a federal-provincial steering committee, TC initiated these studies in 2007 to assess the implications of a national heavy truck speed limiter requirement from a safety, environmental, economic and operational perspective.

Many Canadians enjoy the hobby of restoring older passenger cars and light trucks. It is therefore fitting to remind the owners of North American-built, eight-cylinder passenger cars and light trucks produced between 1970 and 1980 of the danger of flex-fan blade failures.
Q1: What is a Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV)?
A1: An LSV is a class of small, lightweight electric vehicles that was originally introduced to meet the short distance transportation needs of residents of gated communities. LSVs have four wheels and drive at a maximum speed of between 32 km/h and 40 km/h.
Q2: How is a LSV different from an electric passenger car?
This bulletin explains the labelling and placarding requirements. It does not change, create, amend or suggest deviations to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDG Regulations). For specific details, consult Part 4 of the TDG Regulations.
Transport Canada and its partners conducted experiments from 2004 to 2006 to further develop an emergency response measure, "the vent and burn technique" for highway tanks, by using commercially available shaped explosive charges. This video presents the results of these experiments. It was produced with the goal to increase awareness of the vent and burn procedure among emergency responders who may be called to an accident scene where other removal techniques cannot be used.
