iMHZEV Program
The Government of Canada has announced $547.5M of funding over four years (or until available funding is exhausted) for the Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) Program. Effective July 11th, 2022, the iMHZEV Program offers Canadian organizations (for profit and non-profit), provinces, territories and municipalities incentives towards the purchase/lease of eligible MHZEVs. Please note that only the vehicles listed on the iMHZEV Program's list of eligible vehicles are eligible for an incentive at the point of sale when purchased/leased and delivered on or after the vehicles respective eligibility date. In order to have new vehicles added to the list of eligible vehicles, automakers must first submit an application to Transport Canada. If you have any questions, please contact us at IMHZEVProgram-ProgrammeIVMLZE@tc.gc.ca.
Transportation is the second largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Canada, accounting for a quarter of Canada's total GHG emissions. One way to reduce the amount of transportation-related GHG emissions is to put more zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the road.
A ZEV includes vehicles that are capable of producing zero exhaust emissions of criteria pollutants or greenhouse gases while operating.
We consider the following vehicles to be ZEVs:
- battery-electric vehicles (BEVs)
- plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)
- Fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs)
Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Program (iMHZEV)
In order to encourage the adoption of medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs by Canadian businesses, the Government of Canada launched the Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) Program on July 11th, 2022. There are many different makes and models of eligible zero-emission vehicles for purchase or lease that provide eligible purchasing/leasing organizations with iMHZEV Program incentives of up to $200,000. For more information on the iMHZEV Program, please see the "iMHZEV Program - general information" section below.
