Subject:
Helicopter ACP Recent Experience Requirements
Purpose
- 1. The purpose of this bulletin is to revise an item in ACP Bulletin 01/18 regarding the requirement for a helicopter ACP to complete an annual Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC) on a multi-engine and single-engine helicopter.
Background
- 2. Paragraph 10.a.(i) of ACP Bulletin 01/18 states that an ACP shall complete an annual PPC as pilot-in-command on both a multi-engine helicopter type and a single-engine helicopter type, if an ACP is authorized to conduct flight checks on both multi-engine and single-engine helicopters.
- 3. Based on industry feedback and further analysis within TCCA, the above requirement has been determined to be unnecessarily onerous and is replaced by the policy below.
Policy Change
- 4. Paragraphs 10.a. (i)(ii) and (iii) of ACP Bulletin 01/18 are superceded by the following policy change:
- a. Pilot Proficiency Checks – Helicopters
- (i) The helicopter type selected by an ACP to complete their PPC is at their discretion and should vary between helicopter types authorized on their delegation of authority (Letter of Authorization), unless the Issuing Authority directs otherwise to maintain specific competencies. An ACP that conducts checks on multi-engine and single-engine helicopter types should vary their PPC between multi-engine and single-engine helicopter types to the extent possible, with the caveat that an ACP shall not conduct a PPC on a multi-engine helicopter if the ACP has not completed a PPC on a multi-engine helicopter within 24 months.
- a. Pilot Proficiency Checks – Helicopters
- 5. The remaining contents of ACP Bulletin 01/18 remain in effect. The above-mentioned change and the contents of ACP Bulletin 01/18 will be incorporated in a revision to the ACP Manual that will be published later this year.
- 6. Please direct questions or comments to the ACP Program Manager at:

Effective Date
- 7. The above change is in effect immediately.
