NCR-018-2016 The purpose of this exemption is to allow Air Canada rouge when operating under Subpart 705 of the CARs to enable, during the all phases of flight, the use of Wi-Fi onboard connectivity installed on board its Airbus A321, A319 and Boeing B767 aeroplanes which are equipped with an In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system featuring wireless streaming of content to transmitting PEDs. The IFE system is branded Player TM in English or le Lecteur TM in French. The contents of this system include movies, television episodes, music, destination information and other related information. Player TM and le Lecteur TM work with PC (Windows) or Mac (Apple) laptops, along with Apple’s iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. ATL-006-2016 Paragraph 704.26(1)(b) of the CARs prohibits the conduct a take-off in an aircraft in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) where weather conditions are at or above the take-off minima, but below the landing minima, for the runway to be used, unless the person is authorized to do so in an air operator certificate and the person complies with the CASS. Paragraph 704.26(3)(b) of the CARs permits a person to conduct a take-off in an aircraft in IMC where weather conditions are below the take-off minima specified in the instrument approach procedure, if the person is authorized to do so in an air operator certificate and the person complies with the CASS.
