The purpose of this exemption is to allow Canadian airport operators to use enhanced taxiway centreline markings prior to the runway holding position, in accordance with the provisions of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Advisory Circular No: 150/5340-1J and with the provisions of Annex14, Volume 1, of the Convention on International Civil Aviation pending formal amendment of the standards. This exemption is also intended to provide to Canadian airport operators using these markings an acceptable temporary means of mitigation when section 5.3.20.1of The Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices (TP 312E, 4th Edition) cannot be met when applied to "Reduced Visibility Operations" as detailed in Transport Canada, Advisory Circular No: 302-001. |

This exemption permits NAV CANADA air traffic controllers to clear an aircraft for a visual approach when the pilot reports sighting the airport and there is a preceding IFR or CVFR aircraft and the air traffic controller will retain responsibility for separation of the aircraft. The application of the separation minimum to provide visual approaches requires complete radar coverage. In addition the exemption will permit an air traffic controller to apply the separation standard to aircraft that are not being radar vectored but are flying a Standard Terminal Arrival Route or another route where a radar service is provided. |

The purpose of this exemption is to: ·provide more flexibility to the air operators and flight crew members conducting on-demand non-scheduled air transport services under Subpart 704 or 705 of the CARs when no other pilot is available. This exemption will allow an increase of hours above the flight time limitations of paragraphs 700.15(1)(b), (c) and (d) of the CARs, as set out in the conditions of this exemption. These limits can only be extended for on-demand non scheduled flight time that occur after the pilot has reached the limit of the CAR; ·This exemption is also intended to allow these air operators to use, in addition to the two scheduling schemes described under paragraph 700.19(1)(a) of the CARs, a scheduling scheme of one period of at least 48 consecutive hours of time free from duty within each 12 consecutive days. ·This exemption will enable air operators and flight crew members conducting on-demand non-scheduled air transport services under Subpart 704 or 705 of the CARs to better meet the variable and unpredictable demands associated with this type of operation. |

This exemption permits all applicants for air traffic controller licences and ratings to: (a) obtain an air traffic controller (ATC) licence without completing the tests and examinations of ATC training courses during the 12 month period immediately preceding the date of issue of a licence; or (b) receive an endorsement of an Airport Control Rating, a Terminal Control Rating, an Area Control Rating or an Oceanic Control Rating having successfully completed ATC training courses administered by an institution that is recognized by the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities as being qualified to administer such training without the limitation of completing this training within 12 months of receiving the endorsement. |
