NCR-028-2018 supersedes NCR-008-2016 The purpose of this exemption is to permit CSALP to obtain an approval for a major change to the type design that results in a re-issuance of the type certificate data sheet (TCDS) for the CSALP model BD-500-1A10 (Marketing designation “A220-100”, formerly the CS100). The purpose of the major change is to replace the current TCDS limitation, resulting from the application of conditions contained in Exemption NCR-008-2016, that renders the type design ineligible for a new CAR 507.02 Certificate of Airworthiness or a new CAR 509 Export Airworthiness Certificate after December 31, 2018. The approved type design includes a Flight Management System (FMS) with embedded software whose demonstrated design assurance processes do not permit a complete showing of compliance to paragraphs 525.1301(a)(1), 525.1309(a), 525.1309(b), and 525.1309(d) of the AWM. In particular, this exemption is intended to provide an extension of the relief period until June 30, 2020 from the provisions of paragraphs 525.1301(a)(1), 525.1309(a), 525.1309(b), and 525.1309(d) of the AWM, to allow CSALP additional time to show full compliance for the FMS application. |

In particular, this exemption is intended to provide relief from the provision of paragraph 525.1447(c)(1) of the AWM, which specify the cabin pressure altitude for automatic presentation of oxygen dispensing units, in order to prevent nuisance deployment of these dispensing units when operating at high-altitude airports. For the purposes of this exemption, high-altitude airport operation means aeroplane operation below 20,000 feet and into or out of airports with elevations above 13,800 feet. |

Paragraph 525.1322(a)(2) specifies that flight crew alerts must be readily and easily detectable and intelligible by the flight crew under all foreseeable operating conditions, including conditions where multiple alerts are provided. This exemption permits approval of a type design where the L (R) ENG FLAMEOUT (Caution) messages are inhibited during the take-off and landing phases of flight. |
