Aircraft model: n/a

Registration no.: n/a

PAC-004-2021 The purpose of this exemption is to permit Harbour Air Ltd.’s “Aeroplane Only Flight Training Program” to exclude the initial night training requirements of CASS subparagraph 724.115(11)(b)(iii) for flight crew members who operate seaplanes under Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) Subpart 704 on straight floats only. Specifically, CASS subparagraph 724.115(11)(b)(iii) mandates the completion of “a normal take-off, visual circuit, approach and landing at night” during initial aeroplane only flight training when an air operator is authorized to operate in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). Allowance to exclude this night training requirement from the Harbour Air Ltd. training program is requested for flight crew members who only operate Harbour Air Ltd. aircraft on straight floats since seaplanes are currently restricted by regulations from taking-off from or landing at water aerodromes at night.
