The Domestic Vessel Regulatory Oversight Branch plays a key role in providing national direction for inspection and certification requirements of all Canadian vessels. The Branch promotes safety by developing domestic regulatory framework and programs harmonized with international practices. In addition to overseeing the certification and inspection of all Canadian vessels, the Branch is responsible for programs such as: the Safety Management System Program ( SMS ), the Delegated Statutory Inspection Program ( DSIP ) ( DSIP ), and the Small Vessel Compliance Program (Non-Pleasure Craft)( SVCP ), as well as excellence and consistency in service delivery.
The work of the Domestic Vessel Regulatory Oversight Branch falls under four divisions:
