46. BUSINESS RESUMPTION FOR FEDERALLY REGULATED EMPLOYERS (COVID-19)

FUNDING TO Support Business Resumption for federally REGULATED employers (COVID-19)

Requesting $195,440 for the 2020-21 Supplementary Estimates B

The Support in Business Resumption (COVID-19) for federal jurisdiction employers initiative is seeking access to $195,440 in planned spending authorities.

Key Messages:

  • Off-cycle budget request approved by Department of Finance
  • Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, TC’s federally regulated entities are preparing to resume/normalize their operations to accommodate transit users as they return to the workplace, and as border/travel restrictions are eased.
  • As workplaces resume operations and return employees to the workplace, transportation entities need immediate guidance and education to develop health and safety protocols and procedures to ensure the effectiveness of this transition.
  • Providing health and safety advice to its federal jurisdiction employers and compliance/enforcement personnel.  This includes liaising with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Labour Canada on the development of guidance and best practice material regarding preventative measures (i.e. the use of PPE and face coverings); and monitoring guidance material issued by provincial and local health authorities.
  • Updating TC’s website and preparing communication materials to effectively respond to public enquiries related to the pandemic.
  • The initiative would benefit federally regulated employers through funding for proactive occupational health and safety work to resume business operations.
